Research (cont..)

Recently the BASHxBROTHERS & friends went to check out local hidden gem the Mexican Specialities Cafe. It took a bit of goggle-mapping through the suburbs to locate, but was well worth the journey.

This place is quite well known in Auckland for serving up cheap authentic Mexican food, and for its rather limited opening hours. They got their 15 mins of silver-screen fame earlier this year during a (fantastic) episode of The Food Truck.

They sell Mexican Coke and some other imported mandarin number called Chaparritas (which happens to be the latin slang word for shawty).

To start, a fish and a prawn tostada, which came with simple instructions to "eat it like a pie".

I went for the prawn taco which was out of this world. Thinking about it makes me hungry.

No nachos or sour cream in sight.

The cafe also stocks an impressive range or Mexican food supplies & treasures. Picked up some tinned chipotle chillies which I'll mention in another post soon.

This place was busy, quirky, fun and above all else delicious. Can't wait to go back.
